Malagas export market on the increase and leading the way in Spain

Malagas Export Market

Andalucia is seeing a large increase in their exports in recent times and Malaga was one of the provinces with the highest rate of increase in foreign trade (the eight highest in Spain).

Within the first 7 months of this year, the previous year’s figures had been overtaken and the prediction is that whereas Spain will increase by 5.5%, Malaga is likely to be around 16%.

Top of the list is olive oil, sales up until August this year exceeded 226 million Euros with Europe and the US being the principle buyers.

Almonds and tropical fruit are the second biggest exports, in the first 8 months of this year the two products were worth 153 million Euros with France being the principle buyer followed by German, Holland, the UK and Portugal.

Increased sales of machines and appliances and meat and packaged foods are also contributing to Malaga’s successful export market.
